A Loving Workplace creates

Collaborative Well-Being.

What is Collaborative Well-Being?

A way of working together that supports and prioritizes a shared commitment to each other’s wellness.

This more loving way improves the wellness of teams doing stressful, traumatic work without relying on self-care alone.

With such a commitment, we recognize that we impact each other and provide the context for choices. Our norms and habits can encourage healthy, balanced practices that reduce stress and its related health issues and increase wellness with all its benefits.

We’ve worked with numerous teams in social and human services, education, healthcare, government, and non-profits dedicated to serving those in need. Their work is important and meaningful but it also takes a toll on those doing this work.

Workers on these teams are often overwhelmed, understaffed, administratively burdened, and traumatized by what they see with little relief.

And they struggle because…

  • Their strong caregiver identity can make it difficult to set boundaries.

  • They may feel guilty about taking time to care for their own needs.

  • The work can be isolating and stress levels high. The emotional burden is often normalized as to be expected.

But this stressful mix is a surefire recipe for burnout, health problems, and high turnover. And this is no way to ensure sustainable service.

Too often workers in these roles are told to “do some self-care,” as if they can find a way against all odds to meditate or breathe their way out of the stress and trauma.

We think this is not a reasonable approach.

And in fact, our research, pilots, and work on behalf of service teams prove there is a better way. This way brings loving care to those who are serving others so wholeheartedly.

The loving, more effective approach is…

Collaborative Well-Being.
